The capital of the Principality of Asturias is a lively university city. Hospitable and dynamic, you can experience something different each day, and it has an intense cultural, commercial, and neighbourhood life, each one with its imprint and attractiveness. With a human dimension, it is easy to walk through, and every corner contains an unexpected perspective: the Fontan market, the cider boulevard, the Pre-Romanesque fountain of La Foncalada, the Cathedral with a Gothic and a Romanesque tower, the historic centre where the Archaeological and Fine Arts Museums embody the contemporary civil architecture.
The city has an intense agenda that highlights, among other things, the lyrical season, or the annual delivery of the Prince of Asturias Award, which rewards people and/or institutions that contribute in an exemplary way to the progress and well-being of society, through their work and their merits in the scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian fields.
Apart from its monumentality, Oviedo is a really attractive city, where its inhabitants have a high quality of life, excellent sports facilities, outstanding educational institutions and have stated, in regular surveys, that they believe they live in a very safe and clean city. Oviedo is also among the cities with the best state of conservation of buildings and public roads.
With a great cultural and leisure offer, Oviedo is known for being the most stylish city in the north: original fashion boutiques, fusion restaurants, cafes with color and flavour… everything in the capital of Asturias is modern and denotes taste, quality and know-how.
